Sustainable School Transformation: An Inside-Out School Led Approach explores how we can best build a truly world class education system. It presents a theoretical and practical case for an alternative approach that combines the rigour of traditional 'top-down' accountability models with the engagement and buy-in of school led 'inside-out' approaches - a combination which can be applied to any school in any context internationally.

Stringer-Panel Models in Structural Concrete Applied to D-region Design
Free Download Stringer-Panel Models in Structural Concrete: Applied to D-region Design by Johan Blaauwendraad
English | PDF | 2018 | 103 Pages | ISBN : 3319766775 | 3.9 MB
Structural concrete designers nowadays distinguish between B-regions (named after Bernoulli beam theory) and D-regions (D standing for 'disturbed'). They are all familiar with B-regions, but less acquainted with the expertise required for D-regions. To design D-regions, the Strut-and-Tie Model (STM) is usually applied, a model laid down worldwide in structural codes of practice. The Stringer-Panel Model (SPM) recommended here is a companion method to the STM, with the advantage of being suitable for different load cases and reversed loading. This being so, the SPM is suitable for linear-elastic analyses where durability is a key consideration, but also suits structural design for contexts of cyclical seismic activity. Finally, this book sets out how structural engineers who prefer the STM can nevertheless apply the SPM to determine a proper strut-and-tie model.

Before a surfing accident caused thirty-three-year-old Devon Raney to lose all but 15 percent of his vision, he had already lived an extraordinary life. Time and again he'd gone against the grain to maximize time for his passions―surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding―bringing him into the direct path of colorful characters, unexpected adventures, and even the occasional brush with death. Through it all, Devon's commitment to outdoor adventure never wavered. If anything, he learned to approach the other commitments he would make in life―as a husband and as a father―with the same passion and dedication he'd applied to board sports.

Spectroscopy The Key to the Stars Reading the Lines in Stellar Spectra

While most amateur astronomers know about the red shift, have a general idea of the way that the emission and absorption lines in stellar spectra provide an insight into the atomic processes of the star, it is unusual to find someone who has any kind of detailed knowledge. The reason isn't lack on interest - far from it - but is because all the books currently available are pitched at professional astronomers and degree students, and are to say the least, difficult to read.
